I think it’s a very good sign when a game can make me laugh out loud. It means it surprised me. It did what I wasn’t expecting (in a good way).
I’m going out on a limb to say you’ll enjoy the game a lot. At first, I was attracted to the look (no big surprise) but the more I’m playing the more involved with the characters I become. The personalities of the party members are astounding. Morte = funny. Dak’kon and Annah have depth to their persons. Geez, just about every person you talk to has some story to tell you. (I could go on but, well, you wouldn’t want me to spoil it) At first the amount of dialog and interaction was neat but not unexpected. What was unexpected was how the game changes when you play through with different styles. I’ve probably started about 6 or 7 times and had a different experience through each way. This is no small game. Which brings me to my next point. In my opinion Torment will be a long game. I mean, look at my game, I know where most stuff is, and I still find myself taking hours through areas. I actually want to take hours through the areas. I enjoy the quests and talking to the people. I love the discovery. I know there have been issues of whether or not Torment will be a long game (80 plus hours). I think it could easily take that long for an average game. Of course I am assuming you will want to explore and do a bit of role playing. Next week should see some happy news for you and me. (Hmmmm)
